Chief AI Officer, Klaros Group

Jennifer Atala is the Chief AI Officer at Klaros Group where she helps financial institutions move beyond AI pilots into responsible, enterprise-wide transformation - balancing innovation, governance, and business value.

‍

Her career spans the federal government, Fortune 100 leadership, and entrepreneurship. At Capital One, she rebuilt and led the team responsible for safe, enterprise-wide generative AI adoption, keeping the company exam-ready for every AI/ML regulator - most notably by deploying AI coding assistants company-wide through cross-functional collaboration with product, science, business, and risk teams.

‍

At the Department of Homeland Security, Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas appointed Jennifer to co-lead the AI Safety & Security Board, convening leaders such as Sam Altman, Dario Amodei, Jensen Huang, Sundar Pichai, and Dr. Fei-Fei Li and their teams to shape national AI governance and co-author one of the federal government's first cross-sector frameworks for responsible AI adoption. She also built DHS's first AI and Equity Action Plan and its AI governance stakeholder engagement strategy.

‍

Jennifer's expertise is grounded in over two decades of work across 15 countries. She has built global tech startup ecosystems with Fortune 500 companies and governments, and led digital transformation at the International Finance Corporation. Earlier in her career, she was a data scientist for U.S. intelligence, a microfinance specialist in Egypt designing loan products for social impact, and a civil rights leader driving inclusive business practices.

‍

Her honors include being named a 2025 Fedscoop Technology Executive Leadership Nominee and a CSIS "Top 50 Under 50" Foreign Affairs & National Security Leader. A speaker of Arabic and Hebrew, she is known for translating business imperatives across cultures, sectors, and levels of power.

‍

Jennifer has been in the rooms where AI is built, governed, and regulated, and she's focused on responsibly building what comes next.
